Available computers? There’s a map for that
Steve Watkins, Coordinator of Library Technology Development @ California State University, Monterey Bay
April 26, 2013 @ 12:00 PM
Our campus IT service recently put up a web page showing in real time the number of available computers in various labs around campus. However, their display didn’t show users where the available stations were located within a facility. This presentation describes the process for taking raw availability data in JSON format, converting it using PHP and XML, and using CSS to display the exact locations of available computers in the library overlaid on simple floor maps viewable on mobile devices.
